Artist's BiographyClint is a graduate of Queensland University of Technologyâ€™s Academy of the Arts where he studied trumpet under Phil Ryan, and a Masters degree from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music where his research focused on crossover music (Dissertation, Crossover Trends: The Nexus between the Third Stream Movement and Contemporary Music). Clint was awarded a 2011 Churchill Fellowship to study contemporary trumpet performance techniques from leading practitioners involved in the creation of crossover music in the UK, Netherlands and France. Also holding his A.Mus.A. (Associate Music Australia) in piano, he has headed brass and piano workshops in Brisbane and Sydney, lectured at QUT (multi-instrumental techniques) and taught instrumental music teacher at a number of Brisbane schools. Clint has also tutored both Principal and Second Study Trumpet (Classical) at the Queensland University of Technology. He has also lectured at the QLD Young Conservatorium of Music (Griffith University) in Contemporary music composition (Composers Workshop) and directed various jazz ensembles. Clint is currently the director of the UQ Big Band (at the University of Queensland), and is a published author about contemporary music with articles published in RealTime Arts Journal (Sydney, Australia).
Clint has backed prominent artists including Don Burrows, Julie Anthony, James Morrison, Chrissy Amphlett, Tina Arena, Natalie Cole, Anthony Calea, Mark Diesel, Leo Sayer, Rick Price, Christine Anu and John Waters, and has travelled with various ensembles both nationally and internationally. Recently, he has performed and toured with BUZZ, a brass quartet formed by Musica Viva to educate young children around Australia and develop music programs in primary schools in both city and rural areas along the east coast of Australia.
In 2005, Clint was awarded a Queensland Arts Grant to attend the International Brass Chamber Music seminar in the USA (University of East Carolina) hosted by the world renowned Meridian Arts Ensemble. He has worked on the Playstation (PS2) computer game soundtrack, â€˜El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Riveraâ€˜, which was scored by Mick Gordon (Game Audio Australia) and various television commercials (Heineken Beer, Australand Homes, Gold Lotto).
In 2012, Clint will be recording new classical/jazz/funk crossover commissioned works in OsnabrÃ¼ck, Germany by composers Robert Davidson, Martin Fondse, Tom Green, Steve Newcomb, Robert Maggio, Nigel Sabin, Mick Morgan and Oene van Geel. These recordings of new works will feature the extraordinary Zapp4 (string quartet), Martin Fondse on piano, and will be produced by renowned European sound engineer Chris Weeda.
