Regarding his development as a player, Tim says, . . . when I was in high school, I was most fortunate to learn that James Stamp, the legendary trumpet teacher, lived but a few miles away. I did not know anything of his reputation. I only knew that he was a very kind gentleman to a raw young kid and that his teaching seemed extraordinary. I felt I was in the presence of a true master of the instrument and of how to teach the instrument. Tim has also studied with Joan LaRue, Robert Rithaler and David Washburn. Each of these teachers gave their students something very unique and outstanding - I am most thankful to all of them.
Dr. Tim Benge seeks to share his passion for high-quality brass performance. Through BengeMusic, he provides summer and weekend workshops to aspiring brass players in the southern California area. He also maintains an active trumpet studio where students can receive expert level instruction in a positive, motivational environment.
